Starting Your Journey With Us
King's Hall Nursery – A Big Adventure for Small People!
Children can join King's Hall from the age of 2. As well as an intake at Reception and all Years up Year 8, we welcome many younger children to our Nursery. This is a small, friendly, happy and welcoming setting for children aged 2 to 4 years.
Every child has their very own key worker who will focus on their individual needs and support them through their time here with us at King’s.
Children benefit from our beautiful rural setting and extensive grounds – our Forest School sessions are popular and encourage learning and exploring outside of the classroom.
The curriculum is tailored to meet the developmental needs of each individual child following the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. Our prime aim is to instill a love of learning into every child by making the very most of their natural curiosity.
We can tailor drop off and pick up times to suit you and you can be safe in the knowledge that your child/children will be happy and cared for, benefiting from small class sizes and caring teachers who inspire and engage with passion and creativity.
Joining Our Reception
Children move on to join our Reception to continue the next stages of their development.
Children looking to make the move would normally do so in the September term following their 4th birthday. We hold a Welcome Afternoon in the Summer Term where parents can learn more about what happens next, and how we can support you and your child/ren.
It can be a little daunting moving up to new class, with new teachers and a new environment. We therefore like to make this feel as easy as possible and start to introduce children to their new teachers and routine during the Summer Term.

Joining King's at Age 11
We have an intake at age 11, when many children are considering a move to senior school. When it comes to the move to ‘big school’ at this age, many parents assume that the best choice is to progress straight to a senior school that has an 11+ intake and runs all the way to age 16 or 18.
In our two-site model, pupils joining at 11 begin in the more intimate atmosphere of King’s Hall, where they find their feet before moving at 13 to our senior school, King’s College.
Experience has shown us that 13 is the ideal age for children to join older boys and girls in a new school environment and this approach avoids the need for one huge leap to a large, new senior school at the age of 11.
